Tasting Notes

An extremely versatile grape varietal, Syrah can be coaxed into a myriad of different styles, from the Cote Rotie and Hermitage wines of France, to the Shiraz wines of Australia. Our Syrah is definitely ‘Old World’ in style with a little ‘New World’ attitude! Lovely aromatics of blackberries, violets, and blueberry pie give way to a multitude of layers including spice, dusty earth, herbs, with dark and bittersweet chocolates. The complexity is overwhelmingly wonderful, while the length of the finish makes you believe that it has actually taken up residence.

This Syrah is 100% from Ash Hollow Vineyard. The wine is barrel aged for twelve months in 60% French Oak and 40% Hungarian Oak of which approximately 25% was new. The wine is unfiltered and unfined.

Nicely balanced and multi-layered, this wine is very drinkable upon release, but will also age well for the next 6-9 years. Syrah pairs best with meals of similar weight and texture. Pair this beauty with smoked ham and white bean soup with fresh thyme, or a smoky chipotle cheddar cheese….YUM!!
